The structure and purpose of this repository

This is a flattened version of the main GFDL MOM6-examples github repository, which includes copies of the FMS1, MOM6, and other source codes which are incorporated as git submodules in the original github repository.

The purpose of keeping this monolithic source repository is permit easier "all-in-one" annotations. Previously I had branched the GFDL code, but I later discovered I was annotating branches which were decoupled from the branches/checkpoints pulled in by the submodules.

Later, when you want to propagate code changes back to the main GFDL repositories, you will need to branch those codes, copy sources files from this repository, and merge those into the main github repositories.
